Pride Month 2025

It's Pride 2025!



June is Pride Month, a time to recognize the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, reflect on the history, and celebrate the courage it takes to live with authenticity and love. It’s also a great time to celebrate our found/chosen families and diverse family structures!

Pride is more than a celebration with rainbows and parades (though these are pretty amazing). It’s a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and valued. Pride Month also promotes the strength that comes from standing together.

Connected with Pride Month is the Stonewall riots, a response to the police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City, in 1969. There are still countries that criminalize sexual minorities, and from the recent death of Jonathan Joss, it’s evident that there’s still work to do to put hate in the past.

Whether you’re out, questioning, or figuring things out, I hope you’re surrounded by kindness and understanding every day.

  Instagram Post I posted the above January 06, 2025. Oh boy, I was on a roll. High hopes. Every day, I wrote. Even if it was just a bit. I was committed, locked in. Above all, I was happy . That sounds stupid, yet if someone else told me writing made them happy, I wouldn't say they were stupid.  But I feel stupid now. My life imploded a few months later. Hi.  This is me. I'm Hester.  Hey. Hester is pretty short already, but you can call me Henny, Hettie, Hessy, or Hestie, if you like.  And this is my blog. I'm an author, maybe you read Seafood ? Probably not, and that's ok. Seafood is about mermaids, murder, and terrible teenage decisions. I write horror. I hope to have some more projects published at the end of the year.  I'll mostly be posting about writing. I'm not terribly active online, and I value my privacy.  And honestly, I feel overwhelmed about 90% of time, so for my own sanity, I won't post much.
